FMG Shapes worked with DELCORE, a high fashion brand, to create the London store. The project focused on using Avocatus quartzite as the main material.

Objectives

The main objective of the project was to create the interior of a luxury store that reflected the philosophy of DELCORE and the quality of its products. Timing was one of the key targets to be hit by having to work in zero time delivery as often happens for retail projects.

The challenges

One of the most important challenges of the project was the need to lighten the solid marble elements to make the weight of the attic of a historic building in central London sustainable. At the same time we worked on CNC lightened marble panels supported on honeycomb

The work team

The work team was composed of experts from FMG Shapes able to guarantee the highest quality in the design and realization of marble details.
Our technical department worked closely with the structural engineers to ensure that the weight of the marble did not cause problems to the attic and with the general contractor who was in charge of the order.

Design and research

The FMG Shapes team worked constantly with the GC and its project managers to ensure that the final design met the customer’s needs and brand identity. The attention to detail and the research on materials have guaranteed a high quality final result.

The solutions

To ensure weight sustainability, the FMG Shapes team used innovative solutions to make solid marble elements lightweight without affecting the aesthetics of the project by working on solutions such as CNC lathe emptying, use of glass fibers to ensure strength and lightness and honeycomb panels for flexural strength as well as to provide a valid support for dry installation on site.

Error prevention

Error prevention was a fundamental part of the project. FMG Shapes has worked by digitally simulating the cutting of slabs and calculating the weights and structural loads using precise algorithms. This has ensured a high quality end result that meets the needs of the customer and the DELCORE brand.
